Ovenware and bakeware material: Glazed earthenware

 

Glazed earthenware

 

Best for: Baking pies, casseroles, braising, gratins, and stewing.
Heat conduction: Poor but holds heat well.
Versatility: Can be used in the oven, toaster oven, and freezer. Can be used with a diffuser on the stove top (hob) top. Do not use under the broiler.
Temperature change: Not good, it will break. It needs to be heated in a cold oven.
Non-stick surface: No.

Care: Chips and cracks easily. Glazed earthenware needs to be soaked the first time before using.
Ability to change size/shape: No.

Clean: Don’t soak, wash in hot soapy water and dry completely.
